Top scorer Khadija Shaw broke the deadlock early in the second half after a frustrating start for City, before Jess Park extended their lead later in the match.

Villa posed a threat on the counter-attack, with Ebony Salmon denied by goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita midway through the first half. However, City's dominance in possession eventually paid off as they grew into the game and showcased greater creativity.

Shaw capitalised on a precise through ball from Mary Fowler, displaying composure as she rolled the ball over the line to put City ahead.

As cracks began to appear more frequently in Villa's defence, City took full advantage—Vivianne Miedema setting up Park to double their lead.

It has not been a straightforward season for City, but they will back themselves to lift silverware, while Villa must now turn their attention back to their battle for Women's Super League survival.
