Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has drawn interest from Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, alongside several clubs across Europe, as the 26-year-old edges closer to a potential departure from Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman, signed from Monaco for £38.8 million in 2023, has found himself out of favour under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. Disasi’s limited opportunities this season have prompted the club to explore potential options for the centre-back, with a move away from the club increasingly likely.

Aston Villa are reportedly a preferred destination for Disasi, with a loan deal until the summer being the most likely outcome. Such a move would grant him the opportunity to play regular Premier League football at a club competing for a Champions League spot and currently dealing with an injury crisis.

While Maresca has experimented with Disasi in a makeshift right-back role, the defender has failed to impress consistently in either that position or his natural role in central defence.

Chelsea have further strengthened their defensive options by recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his season-long loan at Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old has quickly risen in Maresca’s pecking order, starting the last two Premier League matches since his return. Chalobah delivered a solid performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge, contributing defensively and nearly scoring before Noni Madueke converted his effort on the goal line.

Disasi, by contrast, has struggled for regular game time this season, making just six Premier League appearances—four as a starter and two as a substitute. Despite his limited minutes, he has managed to find the back of the net, scoring during Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Southampton in December.

With interest growing from Villa and Wolves, Disasi’s departure seems imminent as Chelsea continue to reshuffle their defensive ranks.
