UK Court Orders Seizure of £2.2 Million from Andrew and Tristan Tate Over Tax Evasion and Suspicious Transactions

A court in the UK has ruled that British police may seize £2.2 million ($2.5 million) from misogynist influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate. The Devon and Cornwall police have classified the brothers, who are currently facing charges of human trafficking and rape in Romania, as "serial" tax evaders.

The funds in question may be drawn from several frozen accounts under the brothers' names, as well as an unidentified third party, referred to as a woman named "J." in the court documents. The Tate brothers had failed to pay taxes on approximately £21 million in profits from their online businesses, which include War Room, Hustlers' University, Cobra Tate, and OnlyFans, between 2014 and 2022.

At the center of the case is a suspicious $12 million transaction made by the brothers to an account owned by J. In court, a video posted by Tate surfaced, in which he can be heard saying, “When I lived in England, I refused to pay tax.”

Defense lawyer Martin Evans attempted to argue that it was "entirely orthodox" for people who run online businesses to carry out transfers of such large amounts. However, the case in the UK was a civil trial, which has a lower burden of proof compared to the criminal proceedings currently pending against the brothers in both Britain and Romania.

Andrew Tate, 37, and his brother Tristan, 36, who hold dual British-US citizenship, gained millions of followers on social media platforms with their aggressive "manosphere" content. Following their arrests, the brothers have been banned from TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. Most of their assets and bank accounts have also been frozen.
