Iran’s national beach soccer team suffered a 7–5 defeat to Portugal in their final Group B match at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025 on Monday.

Both sides had already secured qualification for the next stage of the tournament, with Portugal topping the group ahead of Iran on goal difference. As a result, the encounter was largely ceremonial in nature.

The two teams had previously recorded wins over Mauritania and Paraguay in their earlier group fixtures. Despite a spirited performance from head coach Ali Naderi’s Iranian side, Portugal emerged victorious when the final whistle was blown.

Nonetheless, Iran progressed to the knockout stage as Group B runners-up.

In the next round, Portugal will face Japan, while Iran are set to take on Belarus in their first knockout match on Thursday, 8 May.
