Jacob Ramsey and Morgan Rogers joined in the celebrations as Aston Villa clinched another FA Youth Cup title at Villa Park this afternoon.

In front of a crowd of 25,074, Villa’s Under-18 side delivered a commanding performance to defeat Manchester City 3–1.

City took an early lead inside the opening two minutes after Villa goalkeeper Sam Proctor’s pass was intercepted by Harrison Myles, who teed up Matty Warhurst to finish.

However, the visitors’ advantage was short-lived, as TJ Carroll equalised moments later with a well-placed header from Cole Brannigan’s corner.

Brannigan then put Villa in front on 31 minutes with a spectacular half-volley from distance, beating Oliver Whatmuff in the City goal.

Jamal Jimoh-Aloba added a third for Villa in the 66th minute, rifling in from outside the area after receiving a pass following a clever dummy from left-back Rodrigo Fortes.

After the final whistle, Ramsey and Rogers took to the pitch to congratulate each member of Villa’s triumphant Under-18 squad, who were clearly revelling in the moment.

Winning the FA Youth Cup in front of over 25,000 supporters is a dream scenario for any young footballer aspiring to forge a professional career.

Jacob Ramsey, who came through Villa’s academy, has personal ties to the competition—his brother Aaron lifted the trophy with the club in 2021.

Although their younger brother, Cole Ramsey, was not part of the matchday squad, he has featured for the Under-18s this season and was present for the celebrations.

“We have Cole [Ramsey] in the ranks, so we’ve received some lovely messages from the boys who won it four years ago—Jacob and Aaron,” said manager Jimmy Shan.

“I’ve worked with Morgan [Rogers] before at West Brom, and so has Mark Harrison. It says a lot about their character.

“They understand and respect the academy system, and they’re eager to share their experiences, joy, and pride with the younger lads.”

Shan added: “They’re still partying—dancing around and playing music. That’s not really my scene!

“They’re buzzing, but with how the fixtures have fallen, we’ve still got two league games to play. There’s no time to get carried away. We’re back in tomorrow for a cool-down session, and the boys who didn’t get many minutes today will be out training. Then we go again on Thursday.

“They probably can’t enjoy this as much as they would if it were the final match of the season. Even so, some of the lads are already showing great maturity—discussing how to approach Thursday and making sure they’re properly prepared.”

Aston Villa’s Under-18s will secure the U18 Premier League South title on Thursday if they defeat Southampton.
