Manchester United have received a significant boost ahead of their return to Premier League action, with five injured players resuming training.

Injuries have posed a persistent challenge during Ruben Amorim's tenure at Old Trafford. However, after being nominated for the Premier League's Manager of the Month award for March, the Portuguese manager is optimistic that his squad can finish the season strongly with key players returning to full fitness.

Ahead of Tuesday’s visit to an in-form Nottingham Forest, United’s injury crisis has eased considerably with the return of five first-team members.

In defence, centre-backs Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are both back in training, alongside left-back Luke Shaw, who has made just three appearances in all competitions this season and has yet to feature in 2025.

Goalkeepers Altay Bayındır and Tom Heaton were also seen taking part in training in footage shared by the club’s media channels.

With Mason Mount making a return to the bench before the international break, United’s injury list has significantly shortened. However, Lisandro Martínez, Kobbie Mainoo, Jonny Evans, and Amad Diallo remain sidelined, while concerns persist over young defender Ayden Heaven.

Heaven, who was on the brink of a first-team breakthrough before sustaining an ankle injury just before the international break, was expected to rejoin training this week. However, he was recently seen walking with his ankle in a protective boot, raising doubts over his availability.

Amorim is expected to provide an update on Heaven, as well as those who have resumed training, ahead of Tuesday’s fixture. United currently sit 13th in the table, trailing third-placed Nottingham Forest by 17 points.
