On Tuesday, the organisation announced the dates and venue for its first four events of the year, with the 2025 World Tournament set to begin at Universal Studios in Orlando on 3rd April. Subsequent events will take place at the same venue on 11th April, 18th April, and 1st May.
Departing from the regular season and play-off format used in recent years, the 2025 campaign will instead feature an eight-fighter, single-elimination tournament across multiple divisions. These include heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, lightweight, featherweight, bantamweight, and flyweight, with the latter being the only women’s division this season.
The participants for the upcoming season are yet to be announced.
Tournament Format and Prize Money
Each tournament winner will receive a $500,000 prize, a reduction from the $1,000,000 purse of previous seasons.
The quarter-final and semi-final bouts will consist of three five-minute rounds, while the finals will be contested over five five-minute rounds. The semi-finals are expected to take place on 12th June, 20th June, and 27th June, with the location yet to be confirmed.
The finals are scheduled for 1st August, 15th August, and 21st August, with the venue also yet to be determined.
All PFL events will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and ESPN+ in the United States.
