Barcelona ended their recent dip in form with an emphatic 5-1 win over Mallorca at Son Moix, halting a three-match winless streak in La Liga. Prior to this result, the league leaders had struggled against Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo, and Las Palmas.
Barcelona Return to Form in La Liga with Dominant Victory Over Mallorca
Ferran Torres, making his first start in two months as a replacement for the rested Robert Lewandowski, capitalised on a defensive blunder by Mallorca’s Johan Mojica to open the scoring in the 12th minute. However, the hosts managed to equalise shortly before half-time, with Vedat Muriqi finding the back of the net.
Barcelona reasserted their dominance in the second half. Raphinha converted a penalty after Mojica fouled Lamine Yamal, and the Brazilian winger later added a second goal in the 74th minute to complete his brace.
Frenkie de Jong then broke his personal drought by scoring his first goal of the season, alleviating some of the pressure he had been under. Substitute Pau Victor rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute with a well-taken finish.
This commanding performance moves Barcelona four points clear at the top of La Liga, though they have played two games more than their nearest challengers, Real Madrid.
