Lukas Podolski has shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League match between Inter Milan and Arsenal.

Inter and Arsenal are set to face each other at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow.

Both teams have performed strongly in Europe’s premier competition this season.

In fact, only goal difference separates the two sides as they head into this clash.

Following a resilient 0-0 draw at Manchester City, Simone Inzaghi’s side have secured wins ‘to nil’ over Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys.

Meanwhile, Arsenal bounced back from a goalless draw with Atalanta in their opening game.

Mikel Arteta’s side has since defeated Paris Saint-Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk without conceding a goal.

As a result, Arsenal is one of only five teams with an unblemished defensive record in this season’s Champions League.

Podolski, who represented both clubs during his distinguished career, expects a thrilling encounter.

“Arsenal has achieved remarkable progress in recent years,” he remarked.

“They haven’t clinched the Premier League title, but they’ve been playing exceptional football and continue to do so.”

“It will be a top contest. It’s more than just a typical group stage fixture; it carries much greater significance.”

When asked whether only Real Madrid and Manchester City were stronger than Inter last season, Podolski replied, “I’d add Barça and Bayern to that list.”

“But yes, Inter is up there. They’re certainly capable of advancing to the knockout rounds. Their attack is formidable.”

However, he refrained from giving Inter an outright advantage over Arsenal.

“It’s difficult to say. Inter is Inter.”

“Inzaghi’s style is well-established, but if I had to lean towards a style that excites me, it would be Arteta’s.”

“I really admire what he brings out in the Gunners’ style of play.”

Podolski also commented on Marcus Thuram’s rise to prominence at Inter.

“I remember him from his days in Germany, but now he’s developed into a true goal-scorer. It’s no small feat to step into the spotlight alongside someone like Lautaro.”

“Inzaghi has no particular dilemma when choosing his lineup. That’s Inter’s calibre – to have two strikers of such quality.”

He further reflected on Lautaro Martinez’s standing in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

“I’ve never been overly concerned with awards like that. There’s a lot of ‘politics’ involved in who wins and who votes.”

“In the past, numerous players deserved to win but didn’t. For me, it’s about the team and the collective effort, and Lautaro remains a top player.”

Podolski predicted that Thuram would stand out in tomorrow’s clash.

“Thuram. Arsenal doesn’t have a forward quite like him. They have Havertz, true, but he’s not a pure number 9.”

Finally, he acknowledged he likely wouldn’t join Inter again if given the chance.

“I’d probably pass. Nothing against Inter; it’s a top-level club, but making a move mid-season isn’t ideal.”

“You need time to adapt to a new league and country.”
