Former Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has offered to come out of retirement to replace the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Ter Stegen sustained a serious knee injury during Barcelona’s 5-1 victory over Villarreal, and although no official recovery timeline has been provided, reports suggest he could be sidelined for around eight months.

Almost imediately following Ter Stegen’s injury, various reports indicated that Barcelona may seek a replacement for the German goalkeeper. The transfer window is closed until January, but the Catalan giants are still permitted to sign free agents.

Bravo, a 150-cap Chilean international who is now 41, retired this summer after four seasons with Real Betis, but he has confirmed he would be willing to come out of retirement if Barcelona were to contact him.

“If Barcelona call me, I’ll be ready,” he told winwin.

Bravo spent two years at Barcelona between 2014 and 2016, making 75 appearances in all competitions before departing to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. The Chilean international kept 43 clean sheets during his time at Camp Nou.

He won La Liga in both of his seasons with the club and also played a role in their 2014/15 Champions League triumph – the same season in which he was named in La Liga’s best XI.

Bravo’s international career, which spanned 20 years, was highlighted by Copa America victories in 2015 and 2016.
