Milan Born Mobster Rocco Morabito Is Extradited To Italy
The mobster Rocco Morabito has arrived on a Con-Air flight from Rio de Janeiro to Rome, after he was sentenced to 17 years in prison for smuggling cocaine.
Morabito
was responsible for smuggling tons of cocaine into Milan during the
80s and 90s, before he went on the run and fleeing to Brazil.
It
wasn't until 2021 that both Brazilian and Italian authorities found
the ex-mobster turned South American drug smuggler, who was arrested
in Joao Pessoa for dealing cocaine.
The
now 55 year old mob boss will serve a 30 year sentence in an Italian
jail for the drug charges booked on him by the Brazilian government,
and for creating the Milan Cocaine Ring during the 80s.
Italian
Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, and Brazilian President, Jair
Bolsonaro, celebrated the successful extradition over the phone.
With
both leaders calling his capture, extradition, and incarceration a:
“Job well done”.
