Everton Football Club have issued a strong condemnation of the “threatening, racist, and misogynistic abuse” directed at Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s wife, Sandra, on social media. The club are working closely with Merseyside Police to identify those responsible.
Everton Condemn Racist Abuse Directed at Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Wife

Sandra Calvert-Lewin was targeted online after she publicly expressed support for her husband following the farewell match at Goodison Park on Sunday, noting that his contributions to the club had often gone underappreciated. Calvert-Lewin, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season but has been offered a new deal by the club.
In an official statement, Everton said:
“The club strongly condemns the threatening, racist, and misogynistic abuse directed towards the wife of Dominic Calvert-Lewin on social media.
This sinister and intimidating behaviour is not only deeply hurtful and distressing—it is criminal. It does not reflect the values of Everton or the overwhelming majority of our supporters.
Everton has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discriminatory and abusive conduct.
We are working in full cooperation with Merseyside Police and the Premier League to ensure those responsible are identified and held accountable for their actions. We will continue to offer our full support to Dominic and his family.”
In a separate development, Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré has confirmed he will depart the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 32-year-old, who has played under both David Moyes and Sean Dyche, famously scored the decisive goal that secured Everton’s Premier League status against Bournemouth in 2023.
Despite the club offering fresh terms after opting not to trigger a 12-month extension clause, Doucouré declined the proposal. The Mali international, who had previously expressed disappointment over delays in contract discussions, is understood to have several options, including interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League. Leeds United have also been linked with the former Watford player.
Doucouré joined Everton from Watford in a £20 million move nearly five years ago, amassing 165 appearances and netting 21 goals. He bid farewell to all corners of Goodison Park during his substitution in Sunday’s win over Southampton and was visibly emotional during the players’ lap of honour.
Manager David Moyes paid tribute, stating:
“Doucs has been an influential player throughout his time at the club, including since my return as manager. Evertonians will always appreciate his commitment and the crucial goals he scored. Everyone at Everton thanks Doucs for his service and wishes him every success in the future.”
Doucouré’s final appearance for the club could come on Sunday against Newcastle United. He will depart alongside Ashley Young and goalkeepers Asmir Begović and João Virgínia when their contracts come to an end this summer.
Reflecting on his time at Everton, Doucouré said:
“Everton means a lot to me. The past five years have been tough, but it was a dream come true to play for this club.
I’m obviously sad to leave, but I believe it’s time for a new chapter for both myself and the club. I’ll always be grateful for everything Everton has done for me.
My best memory will always be the goal I scored against Bournemouth to keep us in the Premier League. That was a proud and unforgettable moment for me, my family, and the entire club.”
