It's Removal Comes After The App Was Alleged To Have Violated Google Play's Terms Of Service For Various Reasons

The social media platform Truth Social founded by former US President, Donald Trump, following the former Commander-in-Chief being banned on Facebook and Twitter in the aftermath of the January 6th Riot in Washington DC some have called an: "Attempted Coup", has been removed from the Google Play Store on all Android Phones and Google Pixel devices.

Alphabet, which owns Google, Android, and Pixel have claimed that the reasons for doing so comes after a review by Google found that Truth Social violated their policies on prohibiting content including physical threats and incitement of violence, though Trump claims it's part of a Democrat led conspiracy to cancel him via an: "Ongoing witch hunt against myself and allies in Congress".

The CEO of Truth Social, Devin Nunes, has called the move: "An act by Google to censor Conservative Americans", having in the past criticized Google's monopoly on search engines and mobile phones.

Apple have yet to announce if it would follow suit, but Apple CEO, Tim Cook, has said: "I will not rule out the possibility of us removing Truth Social from our App Store".

Critics of Truth Social have said the platform has a problem with disinformation and hate speech, after it was revealed that 47 verified accounts on Truth Social promoted QAnon and Proud Boys content on the social media service.

Despite these claims, the Terms of Service lined out by Truth Social do mention things you can and cannot say or do on the platform, though if this has ever been enforced is still unclear and remains to be seen.
