Tinubu redeploys four Permanent Secretaries to boost civil service efficiency and align leadership with key national priorities.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the redeployment of four Federal Permanent Secretaries in a strategic move aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Federal Civil Service.

The announcement, contained in a statement issued by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, stated that the redeployment aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The decision is part of ongoing reforms to drive innovation and improve service delivery across federal ministries.

“This reassignment is part of continuous efforts to enhance operational efficiency, foster innovation, and strengthen service delivery across the Federal Civil Service,” the statement read.

The affected Permanent Secretaries and their new assignments are:

  • Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe – Redeployed from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to the Ministry of Regional Development, where she will understudy the outgoing Permanent Secretary set to retire on May 7, 2025.

  • Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo – Moved from the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.

  • Dr. Emeka Vitalis Obi – Transferred from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Development to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

  • Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam – Reassigned from the Special Duties Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Commenting on the development, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, noted that the redeployment is a routine administrative measure intended to reposition the civil service and ensure that senior officials are deployed where their expertise is most needed.

She urged the newly reassigned Permanent Secretaries to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles and contribute meaningfully to the progress and performance of their ministries.

All handover and takeover processes are to be concluded by May 2, 2025, as directed.

Walson-Jack reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a professional, world-class civil service that is responsive to the country’s developmental goals.
