Ukraine has agreed to a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire with Russia. The US restored military aid after talks in Saudi Arabia, while Trump signaled openness to meeting Zelenskyy again. Russia remains opposed to concessions.

Ukraine has agreed to a proposal by the United States for an immediate 30-day ceasefire with Russia on land, sea, and air, following discussions with US officials in Saudi Arabia.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the next move was now up to Russia, as Washington prepared to present the offer to Moscow.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials present at the talks in Saudi Arabia emphasized that the high-level discussions with the US on Tuesday demonstrated Kyiv’s willingness to pursue peace.

"Today, we demonstrated to the entire world that we want peace. We are ready for peace—for a just and lasting peace," said Andriy Yermak, the head of the Presidential Office, who led the Ukrainian delegation.

Following these discussions, the administration of US President Donald Trump decided to lift its suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. This decision marked a significant shift from just a week prior when Washington had imposed these measures in an effort to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy into entering negotiations to end the war.

Trump also indicated a willingness to invite Zelenskyy back to the White House, despite their tense previous meeting at the Oval Office.

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began three years ago, and the Kremlin currently occupies approximately one-fifth of Ukrainian territory. Thus far, Moscow has remained opposed to any resolution that does not involve a complete and permanent end to the conflict on its own terms, rejecting any proposed concessions.
