A 12-year-old girl has tragically died after being struck by a car while getting off a school bus in Northern Ireland.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday on Hillhead Road, just outside Castledawson in County Londonderry. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the young girl succumbed to her injuries.
Inspector Adair of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has urged the public not to share any footage of the collision scene on social media.
The inspector stated, "There was a large number of people in the vicinity at the time who may have recorded video footage of the scene. I would ask anyone with footage not to share it on social media but instead forward it to police through the major incident public portal. This footage will be of great assistance to officers investigating the collision."
Authorities have since reopened Hillhead Road following the serious accident, but investigations remain ongoing. The PSNI is appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their inquiries.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has dash-cam footage, or has taken images at the scene is encouraged to come forward. Individuals with relevant information are urged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1038 05/03/25.
