The Reds' players were involved in a mass altercation at the final whistle at Goodison Park after Curtis Jones shoved Abdoulaye Doucouré in response to the Everton midfielder celebrating in front of Liverpool's supporters.
Slot and his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, were both shown red cards moments after referee Michael Oliver blew the final whistle due to their post-match protests.
An FA statement read:
"Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff have been charged following the Premier League fixture between the two clubs on Wednesday, 12 February.
"It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants conducted themselves in a proper manner and refrained from provocative behaviour after the final whistle.
"The Liverpool manager allegedly acted improperly and/or used insulting and/or abusive language or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match had concluded.
"It is alleged that Liverpool’s assistant manager acted improperly and/or used insulting and/or abusive language or behaviour towards a match official, which resulted in his dismissal. It is further alleged that he continued to act improperly and/or used insulting and/or abusive language or behaviour towards a match official after being sent off.
"Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff have until next Wednesday, 19 February, to provide their respective responses."
Speaking about his dismissal in a press conference on Friday, Slot admitted: “Emotions got the better of me, and looking back, I would have handled it differently. I hope to react differently next time.”
Slot declined to reveal the specific reasons for his sending-off. “There is an ongoing process regarding what was said and what happened, so I do not want to interfere with that,” he stated.
"I should have reacted differently after the match, but football is an emotional sport, and sometimes individuals, in the heat of the moment, make the wrong decision. That is what I did," he conceded.
