Jhon Durán has officially completed his transfer from Aston Villa to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in a £64.5 million deal.

After undergoing a medical on Thursday, the Colombian striker has finalised his move and will now link up with Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, and his new teammates in Saudi Arabia.

A statement on Villa’s official website read:

"Aston Villa can confirm that Jhon Durán has joined Al-Nassr for an undisclosed fee.

The striker moves to Saudi Arabia having scored 12 goals for Villa this season, including the winner against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Everyone at Aston Villa would like to wish Jhon all the best in the next step of his professional career."

Durán has been handed the No. 9 shirt at Al-Nassr, the same number he wore during his time at Villa Park.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form, scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Unai Emery’s side this season. However, despite his contributions, he struggled for regular starts, with Emery often preferring Ollie Watkins as his lone striker.

Durán initially joined Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023 and made 78 appearances for the club, scoring 20 goals in total.

Villa’s Transfer Plans Following Durán’s Departure

With Durán now gone, Aston Villa could turn their attention to Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as a potential loan signing.

Rashford has been frozen out by United boss Rúben Amorim, and while a move to Barcelona was previously on the cards, it now appears unlikely.

Durán’s departure also significantly reduces the chances of Watkins leaving Villa this month. Arsenal recently made a £60 million bid for the England international ahead of next week’s transfer deadline, but Villa swiftly rejected the offer.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has long been an admirer of Watkins, and Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer. However, Villa are reportedly frustrated by Arsenal’s approach and remain adamant they will not sell their star striker.
