Alphonso Davies, the highly sought-after Bayern Munich left-back, is set to leave the German club as a free agent next summer when his contract expires.
Barcelona and Manchester United Rejected by Bundesliga Star Who Chooses Real Madrid
Real Madrid have been working for some time on securing the Canadian international’s signature, but Barcelona recently entered the race, seeking to acquire his services.
The Blaugrana view Davies as an unmissable market opportunity and have been hoping to leverage his connection with manager Hansi Flick to convince him. Meanwhile, Manchester United are also interested in the pacey defender, setting up a potential transfer battle.
Barcelona and Manchester United Face Rejection
However, according to MARCA, Davies has already made up his mind to sign for Real Madrid, rejecting the recent approaches from both Barcelona and Manchester United.
Reports indicate that representatives from both the Blaugrana and the Red Devils have been in contact with Davies’ camp in recent weeks, exploring the possibility of a move in the summer of 2025.
Barcelona hoped to appeal to him through his connection with Flick, while Manchester United were willing to meet his considerable salary and bonus demands.
But both Barcelona and Manchester United received firm rejections from Davies’ camp. The 24-year-old has made it clear that he only wants to join Real Madrid.
Even the prospect of reuniting with Flick at Barcelona was not enough to sway the defender, who has also rejected several contract offers from Bayern Munich.
Barcelona’s Alternatives
It seems that Barcelona may miss out on Davies next summer, but they are already exploring alternatives, with Alvaro Carreras and Hugo Bueno among the options for strengthening their left-back position.
As Davies appears set for Real Madrid, both Barcelona and Manchester United will now focus on other potential targets in the transfer market.
