The group referred to themselves as the "Saxon Separatists" and aimed for the collapse of civilization to establish an extreme-right government and societal structure.

Germany's Federal Public Prosecutor announced on Tuesday that eight suspected members of a right-wing militant group have been arrested following a series of raids conducted across three countries, involving hundreds of officers.

Prosecutors indicated that the group comprises approximately 15 to 20 individuals, who are characterized by their "racist, antisemitic, and in some cases apocalyptic ideas." They noted that the members share a profound rejection of Germany's free and democratic order.

The statement revealed that the group was allegedly planning to seize power in the state of Saxony and potentially in other eastern German states, with the intent of establishing governmental and societal structures reminiscent of National Socialism. Justice Minister Marco Buschmann emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that even ethnic cleansing was included in their inhumane plans. He underscored that the arrests highlight the necessity of protecting Germany's democratic framework from threats originating from various fronts, asserting, "We must do everything we can to defend our liberal democracy against its enemies."

Identifying themselves as the Sächsische Separatisten, or "Saxon Separatists," the group aimed to facilitate what they referred to as the "collapse" of civilization to instate "a national socialist order" within both the political and societal realms. Authorities reported that the group was established in November 2020 and engaged in paramilitary training involving firearms and protective gear, some of which was confiscated during the raids.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser remarked on the dangers posed by these right-wing extremists, stating, "The use of weapons and military equipment shows how dangerous these right-wing extremists are." The arrests took place in several locations across the eastern German state of Saxony and in neighboring Poland, with additional premises linked to the group's members being searched in Austria.

The alleged leader of the group, Jörg Zgorzelec, was apprehended in Poland, and reports from the German news agency DPA indicated that the oldest suspect among them is 25 years old. Various right-wing factions in Germany are focused on the concept of a so-called collapse, or "day X." Notably, this includes the group led by former German soldier Franco A., whose scheme to assassinate left-leaning politicians was uncovered in 2018.
