Luka Modric took the time to reflect on Real Madrid's recent match against Espanyol during an interview on Real Madrid TV (via Mundo Deportivo). His insights shed light on the team’s performance, current form, and the contributions of key players.

To start, Modric expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance, especially in the second half of the match. He acknowledged that while they encountered difficulties in scoring during the first half, the team created several opportunities.

“We played well, particularly in the second half. We struggled to score in the first half but created many chances. Today, we were very good both with and without the ball. This game will give us confidence to keep improving,” said the club captain.

Analysing the match in detail, Modric noted that the team's performance was commendable from start to finish. He recognised that while the first half posed some challenges in terms of scoring, the overall gameplay was strong.

“The team played very well, and we had a great match from start to finish. In the first half, we had a bit of trouble finding the net, but we still played well.

“However, physicality and quality are crucial against teams that sit deep. They scored first, but we didn’t let that affect us, and we kept playing,” he remarked.

One impressive statistic Modric highlighted was the team’s remarkable 38-day unbeaten streak. He explained that this achievement reflects the character, quality, and commitment shown by the squad.

“It says a lot not to lose matches for so many days, but we must keep pushing forward. This success is due to the character, quality, and commitment of the team. Additionally, everyone is ready when it’s their turn to play; those are the keys.”

When discussing the contributions of standout players like Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Jr., and Rodrygo, Modric acknowledged their world-class abilities.

He expressed his happiness at having such talented players in the squad, but noted that despite their excellent performances, there is still room for improvement.

“They are world-class players, and we are fortunate to have them in the team. They’re doing well, but we can still improve, and this match can give us all confidence,” Modric explained.

On a personal note, Modric shared his feelings about playing the full 90 minutes. He expressed his satisfaction, stating that he felt both physically and mentally fit. His positive outlook reinforces the idea that he remains a vital player for the team as they progress through the season.

“I’m very happy to have played 90 minutes. I feel very good both physically and mentally,” concluded the captain.
