Onut's Texting And Driving Led To The Deaths Of Three People Whilst Traveling On The A-1 In Yorkshire

Lorry driver Ion Nicu Onut has been found guilty on three counts of vehicular manslaughter, after he plowed his lorry into traffic on the A-1 Motorway last year.

On July 15th 2021, 999 were summoned to a multi-car collision on the A-1 caused by Onut driving whilst using his cellphone.

He was browsing dating apps when he rammed into two cars, causing his lorry to catch on fire.

In one car was David Daglish and Elaine Sullivan, and in the other was Paul Millen.

All three were killed near instantly after Onut's lorry hit them.

Speeding into gridlock traffic at 58mph, the texting and driving Onut first rammed David and Elaine's Vauxhall, which caused the fireball seen in dashcam footage of the incident.

It then rear ended Paul's Hilux, which was crushed like a tin can against a second lorry.

Since then, stricter texting and driving rules have been put into effect due to the crash caused by Onut and several similar incidents.
