The teenage girl accused of attempted murder at a Welsh school has been remanded in youth custody until her appearance at Swansea Crown Court on May 27. The incident prompted a lockdown at the school, with the suspect arrested at the scene.

A teenage schoolgirl has been remanded in youth custody after appearing in court charged with attempting to murder her teachers and a fellow pupil.

The 13-year-old girl, whose identity remains undisclosed due to her age, is accused of orchestrating the playground rampage that resulted in hundreds of pupils being placed in lockdown at Amman Valley secondary school in south-west Wales this week.

During the 15-minute hearing at Llanelli Magistrates Court, which convened as a youth court this morning, she spoke only to confirm her name, address, and date of birth. Throughout the proceeding, she briefly exchanged smiles with her father, who sat at the back of the court.

District Judge Mark Layton appeared remotely via video link and decided to remand the defendant into youth detention custody at a facility in south Wales. The girl wore a grey sweatshirt and was accompanied by two security guards and two intermediaries dressed in blue polo shirts.

The suspect faced three counts of attempted murder and one of possession of a bladed article, described by prosecutor Abigail Jackson as a 'violent offence,' although she was not asked to provide details of the case, and the defendant did not enter pleas.

The attempted murder charges are connected to head of year seven Fiona Elias, special needs teacher Liz Hopkin, and a fellow schoolgirl, whose identity remains protected due to her age.

Mrs. Hopkin reportedly sustained four wounds during the incident. All three victims were discharged from the hospital and were said to be recovering at home yesterday.

She is set to appear at Swansea Crown Court on May 27. The judge instructed lawyers and court staff to remain seated throughout the proceedings, recognizing the special measures in place for a youth court.

Following the incident, hundreds of pupils were confined to their classrooms for hours as police responded to the school in Carmarthenshire.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and reportedly restrained by teacher Darrel Campbell. His brother, Cefin Campbell, the Senedd member for Mid and West Wales, commented, "He's embarrassed by all the attention that he's had, he certainly doesn't consider himself a hero in any way."
