The MLS side announced the deal late on Friday, confirming that De Paul joins on loan until 2025, with an option to make the transfer permanent through to 2029.
The 31-year-old will not occupy a designated player slot on the club’s roster and reunites with his compatriot and fellow 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Lionel Messi in Florida.
“Assembling a team that inspires our fans to dream continues to be one of our primary aspirations, so we're thrilled to sign a player of Rodrigo's calibre. He is a winner who has conquered the world stage; his ambitions match ours at Inter Miami, and we are hungry to achieve these goals together,” said Inter Miami CF managing owner Jorge Mas.
“Several of the best players in global football have already chosen Inter Miami as their home, and Rodrigo joining our roster is another landmark as we continue on this journey to change the trajectory of the sport in this country and make our fans proud.”
De Paul has tallied 57 goals and 74 assists across nearly 500 professional appearances for Racing Club (2012–2014) in Argentina, Valencia (2014–2016) in Spain, Udinese (2016–2021) in Italy, and Atlético Madrid (2021–2025).
“Rodrigo is a player I’ve admired for many years. As a leader, he has brought so much to every team he’s played for — especially with the Argentina national team,” said Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham.
“He brings experience, passion and quality to our team and to our city. I’m excited to welcome another World Cup-winning player not just to Inter Miami, but also to MLS.”
On the international stage, De Paul has been capped 78 times for Argentina. In addition to the World Cup triumph in 2022, he also played key roles in Copa América victories in 2021 and 2024, gaining recognition for his role as a tenacious enforcer in support of Messi.
“What brings me to Inter Miami is the desire to compete, to win titles, and to write new chapters in the club’s history,” De Paul said. “It’s a club that is shaping up to become great, with a long future ahead — one that many people will follow. I’m excited to be part of this incredible team.”
