Paul Kagame Has Presided Over Rwanda Since He Took Power In A Coup During The 1994 Rwandan Genocide

The Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, has announced that he will be running for a 4th term in office as the 2024 Rwandan elections draw near.

Paul Kagame came to power following the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, when he and his Tutsi army reclaimed power taken from them by the Hutu government led by Juvenal Habyarimana (Who was assassinated on April 6th 1994) and his wife Agathe (Currently imprisoned in a French jail) .

After he and the Tutsi's regained power in Rwanda, Kagame transformed the Central African country into a limbo nation: Whereby it has many economic freedoms and is one of the safest countries in Africa, but it is also a place where criticizing the Tutsi government or Paul Kagame can lead to you being imprisoned and/or killed.

Lewis Mudge, the director of the Human Rights Watch branch in the region, has stated that: “What comes as a surprise is that some people are indeed surprised.

Rwanda is a country where it's very very dangerous to oppose the government, or be a political opponent to the Kagame Regime.

This authoritarian system is going to be the system for the foreseeable future.

The people live in a climate of fear, and politicians stay for long terms in the government because they fear assassination.

If he continues for another 20 years, Rwanda will be a living hell”.
