US Center for Disease Control and Prevention says there is a respiratory virus affecting Americans

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention says many Americans may have been infected with a respiratory virus without knowing about it. According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, cases of the Human Metapneumovirus spiked during the spring leaving people with similar symptoms to Influenza and Covid-19. The problem is many Americans are not tested for virus so they weren’t aware that they had it and so far there is no vaccine or medication to treat hMPV.

The differences between the Flu, Covid and hMPV only exists when you look at it genetically, but as far as the public is concerned the symptoms are identical to influenza comprising puffiness, sore throat, fever and congestion. Unfortunately, there is no readily available test to see what is causing these symptoms and what is most concerning is the fact that it has increased approximately 36% in the last year.

This virus has been around since 2001 but it is surely making a resurgence. We are seeing a spike in cases over the last 2 or 3 years because predominantly everyone was taking precautions, but now that we have let down our defenses and we are not as cautious, all these viruses have become more widely spread. There is currently no vaccine or even anti-virus that can treat this even for children, therefore the best sickness is precaution and prevention, but for already infected seniors and kids, doctors say it is best to monitor breathing and if feverish visit a physician.
