The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the 2025 Indian Premier League season amid rising security concerns following heightened cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. The move comes after a match in Dharamsala was abandoned mid-play due to security threats, with several northern Indian regions now on high alert. Official confirmation and further details regarding potential rescheduling or cancellation are expected soon.
BCCI Suspends IPL 2025 Amid Escalating India-Pakistan Tensions

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season has been suspended due to heightened security concerns following escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan, according to reports in the Indian media.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the decision just a day after a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abandoned mid-innings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. The fixture was halted after a floodlight failure prompted an emergency evacuation of spectators amid false reports of missile threats and suspected drone activity in the surrounding region.
Veteran journalist Vikrant Gupta reported that the BCCI has opted to pause the tournament as several northern Indian states—particularly regions of Punjab, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), and Rajasthan—remain on high alert.
It remains unclear whether the suspension is temporary or marks the end of the 2025 IPL season altogether. The possibility of the tournament being relocated or rescheduled has not been ruled out.
While an official statement from the BCCI is still pending, further clarification on whether the tournament will resume, be moved abroad, or be cancelled entirely is expected in the coming days.
The suspension comes amid growing regional instability after Pakistan reportedly shot down multiple Indian fighter jets, further intensifying the cross-border crisis.
In a related development, the remaining matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been confirmed to move to the United Arab Emirates due to the deteriorating security situation.
