Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at 14, became the youngest player to score a senior T20 century and the second-fastest in IPL history, reaching 100 in just 35 balls. His debut IPL season has drawn praise from cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh for his fearless and exceptional performance.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old Indian cricketer, made history by becoming the youngest player to hit a senior T20 century on Monday, achieving the milestone at just 14 years and 32 days. This follows his groundbreaking achievements in the world of cricket.

In November 2024, Suryavanshi made headlines when he became the youngest-ever player to be sold at the Indian Premier League's (IPL) annual auction. He was purchased for 11 million rupees (roughly €125,000) by the Rajasthan Royals for the eight-week competition.

On April 19, 2025, Suryavanshi made his IPL debut for the Rajasthan Royals, becoming the youngest player to feature in the tournament. He marked his debut with a bang, hitting a six off the very first ball he faced.

Nine days later, he made even more history by scoring the second-fastest century in IPL history, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls. Reflecting on his achievement, Suryavanshi said, "It feels really good. It is like a dream to score a century in the IPL. What I've been practicing for the last three, four months, the result is showing. I just see the ball and play. It has been a dream to get a 100 in the IPL and today it materialized. There is no fear. I don't think much, I just focus on playing."

In only his third IPL match, Suryavanshi shared a remarkable 166-run opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, scoring 70 not out off 40 balls, before reaching his 101 off just 38 balls.

Suryavanshi’s remarkable innings was met with praise from several Indian cricket legends. Former captain and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar lauded his fearless approach, commenting, "Vaibhav’s fearless approach, bat speed, picking the length early, and transferring the energy behind the ball was the recipe behind a fabulous innings. End result: 101 runs off 38 balls. Well played!!"

Yuvraj Singh also expressed his admiration, highlighting Suryavanshi’s ability to take on top bowlers. "What were you doing at 14?!! This kid is taking on the best bowlers in the world without blinking an eyelid! Vaibhav Suryavanshi — remember the name! Playing with a fearless attitude. Proud to see the next generation shine!" Yuvraj wrote on X.

Former cricketer and 1983 World Cup winner Kris Srikkanth praised Suryavanshi’s maturity, saying, "At 14, most kids dream & eat ice cream. Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivers a fabulous 100 against one of the contenders for IPL! Composure, class, and courage beyond his years. We are witnessing the rise of a phenom. Indian cricket’s next superstar is here!"

Yusuf Pathan, whose record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian was broken by Suryavanshi, also congratulated the young star, writing, "Many congratulations to young #VaibhavSuryavanshi for breaking my record of the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian! Even more special to see it happen while playing for Rajasthan Royals, just like I did. There’s truly something magical."
