Real Madrid were dealt a major setback on Wednesday as they lost Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba to injuries, just days before the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

While Alaba might still make the squad, Camavinga’s season is over after it was confirmed that he has suffered a complete tear of the left adductor tendon.

Mbappé, Mendy Back in Training

However, there is some positive news for Real Madrid as Mundo Deportivo confirms that Kylian Mbappé and Ferland Mendy returned to group training today as the club resumed preparations for the Copa del Rey final.

Mendy had been sidelined with an ankle sprain that kept him out of recent La Liga fixtures against Athletic Club and Getafe. But the French left-back seems to have fully recovered, training normally today, and he now looks set to start in Saturday’s final at the Estadio de La Cartuja.

Meanwhile, Mbappé has not played since 12 March due to a hamstring tear he sustained against Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. However, the good news is that his recovery is progressing well, and he is now entering the final phase of his rehabilitation.

Real Madrid’s usual pre-match training schedule has been adjusted for the final. On Friday, the squad will train at Valdebebas at 11:00, before travelling to Seville for an evening session at La Cartuja, scheduled for 20:00.

Mendy will now use the remaining training sessions to build his fitness and prove he is ready to start against Barcelona, ahead of Fran García, who is currently the frontrunner to feature.
