Spotify Suffers Global Outage, Denies Security Breach





On Wednesday, music streaming platform Spotify experienced a service outage affecting thousands of users around the world, according to data from Downdetector.com.
As of 10:28 a.m. ET, the outage tracking site had recorded over 32,000 user reports detailing issues with Spotify’s functionality.
In a post on the social media platform X, Spotify addressed the situation, stating, “We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false.”
According to Downdetector, the disruption began at approximately 8:45 a.m. ET and reached a peak nearly an hour later, with close to 49,000 reports logged. The website collects information on outages by aggregating status reports from multiple sources, including user-submitted errors.
During the outage, some users on social media noted that while they were able to play downloaded music, they could not search for artists or stream music through the app.
Spotify has yet to provide an immediate response to inquiries regarding the cause of the outage.
