Real Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés, thanks to Eduardo Camavinga's goal, but the win was overshadowed by Kylian Mbappé’s red card for a reckless challenge. Initial fears suggested the forward could miss the Copa del Rey final, but reports now confirm he will only serve a one-match suspension, meaning he remains available for the showdown against Barcelona.
Real Madrid Handed Major Boost as Mbappé Suspension Confirmed Following Red Card Against Alavés

Real Madrid returned to winning ways on Sunday evening with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés in La Liga, courtesy of a solitary strike from Eduardo Camavinga.
Despite the three points, the evening in Vitoria did not unfold entirely as planned for Los Blancos, as star forward Kylian Mbappé was dismissed in the first half for a reckless challenge on Alavés midfielder Antonio Blanco.
The Frenchman was shown a straight red card in the 38th minute after a dangerously high tackle that caught Blanco on the shin, leaving both fans and management concerned about a potential multi-match suspension.
Mbappé Set to Serve Only One-Match Ban
There were initial fears that Mbappé might face a three or four-match suspension, which would have ruled him out of the highly anticipated Copa del Rey final against arch-rivals Barcelona later this month.
However, according to journalist Isaac Fouto of COPE, Real Madrid can breathe a sigh of relief, as the forward is expected to serve only a one-match suspension.
The match official's report is believed to have played a key role in the decision, with the referee noting that the ball was being contested at the time of the incident, thus reducing the severity of the punishment.
As a result, Mbappé will only be absent for Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga fixture against Athletic Club this weekend. He will be eligible to return for the midweek clash against Getafe and, more crucially, will be available for selection in the Copa del Rey final, scheduled to take place in Seville on 26th April.
A Season-Defining Moment Approaches
This development will come as a significant boost for Real Madrid, who have endured a challenging spell in recent weeks, with their season precariously balanced between success and disappointment.
Having already lifted two trophies during his debut campaign at the Bernabéu, Mbappé will now turn his attention to securing a third by helping his side overcome Barcelona in the domestic cup final.
