Hansi Flick hailed Iñigo Martínez's remarkable stoppage-time tackle as if it were a goal, as Barcelona moved closer to securing the LaLiga title with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Leganés on Saturday.

Martínez’s crucial intervention on the edge of the penalty area prevented Munir El Haddadi from equalising in the 92nd minute, after Jorge Sáenz’s own goal had earlier given Barcelona the lead at Butarque.

The victory extended Barcelona’s unbeaten run to 24 matches in all competitions and temporarily moved the LaLiga leaders seven points clear of second-placed Real Madrid, who are scheduled to play Alavés on Sunday.

"For me, the most important moment wasn’t just the goal, but the last tackle from Iñigo, which was unbelievable," Barcelona manager Flick said in the post-match press conference.

"I celebrated it like a goal, and everyone celebrated it like a goal. It’s part of the game, and, once again, another clean sheet. It was the perfect match."

Flick added, "Three points are three points. It’s fantastic, and I’m really happy and very proud of my team."

Barcelona were far from their best against Leganés, who came close to taking the lead early on when Adrià Altimira’s effort forced a smart save from Wojciech Szczęsny.

The only goal of the match came early in the second half, when Sáenz turned a Raphinha cross into his own net.

Leganés pushed for an equaliser late on, but Barcelona held firm, and Flick was particularly pleased with his team's resilience in what was their sixth match in 16 days since the international break.

"Today, the way we fought for 94, 95 minutes was unbelievable," the German coach said. "When you consider the workload the players have had in the last few weeks, especially after the international break, what they’ve achieved in these games... it’s unbelievable."

The victory was somewhat marred by the loss of left-back Alejandro Balde to injury in the first half. Flick confirmed that the Spain international would undergo tests on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury.

Barcelona will return to action on Tuesday in the Champions League, travelling to Borussia Dortmund for the quarter-final second leg. They hold a commanding 4-0 lead from the first leg at the Camp Nou.

Following that, Barcelona have back-to-back home fixtures in LaLiga against Celta Vigo and Mallorca, before facing Real Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey on April 26 in Seville.

"Now, we focus on recovery," Flick said. "I think the word I use most is recovery, recovery, recovery. We’ll arrive back in Barcelona late tonight, then on Sunday we’ll recover and train with the other players who didn’t play as much.

"And on Monday, we fly to Dortmund. That’s the schedule. We have no excuses. We focus on our job. The team is fantastic again, absolutely fantastic."
