Liverpool are poised to announce a new contract for Mohamed Salah, with both the club and the player having reached an agreement in principle. Salah’s new deal will keep him at Anfield until 2027, with minor adjustments to his wage demands. Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Salah has chosen to remain at Liverpool, where he feels settled. There is also optimism regarding the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the latter expected to leave for Real Madrid. Liverpool are still monitoring potential replacements, including defender Dean Huijsen and forward Kiliann Sildillia.
Mohamed Salah Hits the Jackpot and AGREES New Liverpool Deal with Major Final Obstacle Cleared

Liverpool are increasingly confident they will soon be able to announce a significant new contract for Mohamed Salah at Anfield, after a trusted source revealed that the Reds are ready to meet the player’s demands. Additionally, there is a positive update from a second source regarding Virgil van Dijk.
Both players, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, are set to fall out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season. The trio will all be eligible to leave Liverpool as free agents on 1st July – just 84 days from now. Given the critical role all three players have played in Liverpool's success in recent years, it’s clear why the club is so determined to secure new deals for them.
While Alexander-Arnold is widely expected to leave and join Real Madrid as a free agent, optimism remains high that both Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will stay. With only 47 days remaining until the final day of the season, which will see Liverpool face Crystal Palace at Anfield on 25th May, an announcement regarding their futures is expected soon.
Speculation around Mohamed Salah's new deal has been gathering momentum, with a significant update from two sources. First, journalist Sacha Tavolieri, writing for Sky Sports Switzerland, reported that Mohamed Salah and Liverpool have now "reached an agreement in principle to extend his adventure until June 2027."
Tavolieri acknowledged that the talks had not been straightforward, with the length of the contract being the final hurdle. However, Liverpool has now agreed to offer the player the two-year deal he had been seeking, with Salah having agreed to a slight compromise on his wage demands to secure his place at Anfield for the next two years, taking him through to the age of 35.
Tavolieri further claimed that Mohamed Salah "does not see himself anywhere except on the banks of the Mersey" and has even turned down a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia to ink the new deal. The arrangement will see Salah earn around £35.36m – approximately £340,000 per week.
David Ornstein also backs the view that Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk will remain at Liverpool. Speaking on NBC Sports, he stated: “Virgil van Dijk has spoken in the last 24 hours and confirmed that there has been progress in talks over a new contract. It’s been my understanding throughout that Liverpool are confident, optimistic about renewing Van Dijk’s contract. Now it’s a case of when, rather than if, he will sign the deal, barring any last-minute issues."
Ornstein added, “It’s the same situation with Mohamed Salah. Liverpool have been confident throughout that they will retain his services. Like Van Dijk, it’s more a case of when, rather than if, and this is very good news for them.”
While Liverpool are undoubtedly pleased that both Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk seem set to stay, the club is also keeping an eye on their long-term future, with potential replacements still being targeted.
As far as a new defender is concerned, Liverpool chiefs are reportedly keen admirers of Dean Huijsen, who is expected to be one of the major stories in this summer’s transfer window. Numerous clubs, including Real Madrid and several Premier League sides, are in the race for his signature, but it appears a European giant has already made Huijsen a priority and initiated contact for a possible five-year deal.
Liverpool also plan to strengthen their attacking options this summer. However, any hopes of signing Alexander Isak appear to have been dashed, with three reasons seeing Liverpool ‘pass up’ on the Newcastle striker. FSG have now shifted their focus towards two alternative big-name signings.
Additionally, the Reds are reportedly targeting SC Freiburg’s Kiliann Sildillia as a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold, with contact already established over what could be a bargain deal to bring him to Merseyside.
