Former Chelsea defender and Super Eagles centre-back Kenneth Omeruo has responded to Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Soccernet.ng reports.
"Well Done, Boys" – What Ex-Chelsea Defender Said After Super Eagles’ Draw with Zimbabwe

The 2013 AFCON champions managed only a point at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, further complicating their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
Omeruo, who was not included in the matchday squad, took to social media to express his support for his teammates despite the disappointing outcome, which leaves Nigeria with just seven points from five matches in Group C.
“Well done, boys… we are almost there… unlucky with the late goal… #Believe,” Omeruo wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account shortly after the final whistle.
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen put Eric Chelle’s side ahead in the 74th minute with a superb header from Ola Aina’s cross. However, Zimbabwe stunned the home crowd with a last-minute equaliser from Tawanda Chirewa in the 90th minute.
The result has left the Nigerian football community in dismay. Nevertheless, English Premier League stars Ola Aina and Alex Iwobi, as previously reported by Soccernet.ng, have reassured fans that they will fight to secure World Cup qualification at all costs.
Nigeria currently sit fourth in Group C, trailing group leaders South Africa by six points, with four crucial fixtures remaining in the qualification campaign—against Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin Republic.
