The U.S. has intensified airstrikes against Yemen's Houthi rebels, targeting key leaders and facilities, in response to attacks on commercial ships. President Trump warns Iran against supporting Houthi aggression.

The United States has ramped up airstrikes against Yemen's Houthi rebels, claiming to have eliminated significant figures, including the group's top missile commander.

According to National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, American forces have specifically targeted Houthi leadership, communication centers, weapons manufacturing sites, and drone production facilities. These intensified airstrikes, now ongoing for ten consecutive days, were initiated in response to Houthi attacks on commercial vessels and their renewed threats to target ships in the Red Sea.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have carried out more than 100 attacks on merchant ships, resulting in the sinking of two vessels and the deaths of four sailors. In one of the most recent strikes, a building in a western district of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, was hit, reportedly killing at least one person and injuring 13 others.

The U.S. government asserts that these operations are designed to curb Houthi aggression and to send a clear message to Iran, the primary supporter of the Houthi group. President Donald Trump has declared that Iran will be held accountable for any Houthi attacks, underscoring the U.S.'s resolve to increase its military presence and activities in the Middle East.
