The match ended in thrilling fashion, with Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior scoring a 99th-minute winner for Brazil. Earlier, Liverpool winger Luis Díaz had cancelled out Barcelona’s Raphinha’s opener.
Brazil’s Medical Update on Alisson
Following the match, Brazil’s team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, provided an update on Alisson’s condition via CNN Brazil, stating:
"Becker suffered trauma to the head and was substituted due to a suspected concussion. We will now follow all the CBF concussion protocols, including imaging tests such as a CT scan and an MRI with diffusion analysis."
"If all tests come back normal, we will proceed with cognitive assessments and monitor him closely in the coming days. At present, Alisson is stable, with no major symptoms, no memory loss, and no loss of consciousness. He only reported feeling slightly slower in his reactions, which is why the substitution was necessary."
Brazil’s next fixture is against Argentina on Wednesday, 26th March, while Liverpool’s next match will be the highly anticipated Merseyside derby against Everton on 2nd April at Anfield.
Liverpool’s Growing Injury Concerns
Alisson’s injury is not the only concern for Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konaté was also withdrawn at half-time during France’s UEFA Nations League clash against Croatia, with his national team’s official account citing injury concerns.
Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch was forced to pull out of the Netherlands squad due to what Liverpool have described as a "fitness issue".
With several key players facing injury setbacks, Liverpool will be hoping for positive updates ahead of their Premier League return.
