Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has confirmed he will depart the club this summer but has ruled out a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) or a return to the Danish Superliga.

United’s hierarchy has opted not to extend Eriksen’s stay as manager Rúben Amorim prepares to overhaul the squad ahead of the new season.

At 33, Eriksen remains confident in his ability to perform at the highest level and has dismissed the possibility of moving to the United States or returning to Denmark at this stage of his career.

When asked about his future, Eriksen admitted:

"I don’t know yet. I haven’t made any firm decisions. Before my cardiac arrest, I played in England for several years, moved to Inter, and thought I would never return. Two years later, I was back in England, and now I have been here for almost four years.

"Careers don’t always follow a set plan. I don’t have a checklist of things I need to accomplish—I will assess my options and choose what is best for me and my family."

Despite keeping his options open, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford playmaker made it clear that neither a move to MLS nor the Danish Superliga interests him at present, as reported by The Mirror.

Speaking to Danish media outlet Tipsbladet.dk, Eriksen dismissed the idea of heading to the United States:

"We won’t travel that far. Not yet. It’s too early," he stated. "I still feel I have several good years left playing abroad. In Denmark, players often return to prioritise family and wind down their careers, but I don’t feel I am at that stage yet.

"It is purely a football decision based on where I am in my career. In truth, I have spent more time abroad than in Denmark, so moving back home would almost feel like relocating to a new country. But we are not there yet."

However, Eriksen has not ruled out a return to Ajax, one of his former clubs, who expressed interest in re-signing him last summer. He has also left the door open for a potential return to Brentford.

When asked about a possible move to Amsterdam, Eriksen responded:

"I am not closing the door on anything. I will see what opportunities arise and whether they are the right fit. That was last summer—we will see where things stand this summer. It is not just my decision; there has to be interest from their side as well.

"Whether Brentford is an option or not, I cannot say. But my intention is not to remain in England.

"This situation is different from when I was a free agent following my cardiac arrest. Back then, I needed to prove that I could still play. Now, it is simply about waiting for the right opportunity and ensuring I make a considered decision. If something feels right, I will take it."
