Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has assured fans that the club will actively invest in the transfer market this summer, reaffirming their commitment to supporting manager Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada Commits to Summer Transfer Investment

United’s financial position has been under scrutiny, particularly after co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe claimed the club would have been “bust at Christmas” had it not been for cost-cutting measures and redundancies implemented since his arrival. His comments came just a day before the club announced plans for a new stadium, raising further questions over financial constraints.
Financial Pressures and European Uncertainty
A challenging league campaign has left Manchester United at risk of missing out on European football next season, a potential financial setback that could limit spending power. However, with Amorim looking to reshape the squad to fit his tactical approach, investment in new signings remains a priority.
Despite the uncertainty, Berrada remains confident that the club will back the manager in the transfer market.
Berrada: "We Will Be in a Position to Invest"
Speaking to TNT Sports before United’s Europa League victory over Real Sociedad, Berrada outlined the club’s approach to the upcoming transfer window.
“We speak to Ruben [Amorim] very frequently,” Berrada said.
“He has a good relationship with [technical director] Jason Wilcox, and they both share a vision for how they want the team to play.
“It’s about proper planning for the summer transfer window and having a clear strategy for the players we want to bring in. We’re making significant efforts to improve our financial position, and even if we are outside of Europe, I believe we will still be in a position to invest in the squad.
“Our ambition is to win tonight, win the Europa League, and secure Champions League football—which is where Manchester United belongs.”
Europa League Progress and Upcoming Fixtures
United backed up Berrada’s words with an emphatic 4-1 victory in the second leg against Real Sociedad, securing a 5-2 aggregate win to set up a quarter-final clash with Lyon.
Ruben Amorim’s side will now turn their focus to Sunday night’s Premier League encounter against Leicester City, as they continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
