Arsenal and Liverpool target Joshua Kimmich has officially signed a new contract with Bayern Munich, putting an end to speculation about his future just four months before his previous deal was set to expire.

The German international had been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena, with several Premier League clubs, along with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, expressing interest in his services.

Reports had previously suggested that Bayern Munich withdrew their contract offer after Kimmich hesitated to provide a response. Further speculation emerged when German media claimed the 30-year-old had demanded a higher salary than what was originally proposed, intensifying the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Amid reports that Bayern had refused to increase their offer and had set a deadline for Kimmich’s decision, the midfielder has now committed his long-term future to the club.

On Thursday, Bayern Munich announced that Kimmich had extended his contract until the summer of 2029, securing his place at the club for the foreseeable future.

A Decade at Bayern Munich

This season marks Kimmich’s tenth year at Bayern since his arrival from RB Leipzig in 2015. Over the past decade, he has made more than 400 appearances and won 20 trophies with the club.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer praised Kimmich’s commitment, stating: "Compliments to our sporting management and our board. FC Bayern needs players who not only wear the shirt but also take responsibility – on and off the pitch. Joshua Kimmich is one of those players."

Prior to his contract renewal, reports suggested that Kimmich was keen on a move to Barcelona or Liverpool but showed little enthusiasm for joining Arsenal. Additionally, German newspapers claimed that Paris Saint-Germain had made a concrete offer.

Kimmich’s Message to Bayern Fans

To mark the announcement, Bayern Munich released a video featuring Kimmich planting a tree, symbolising his deep-rooted connection with the club. In the video, he delivers an inspirational message about commitment and perseverance.

"What does it take to be successful at Bayern? You have to work hard," he said.

"Weather the storm sometimes. Be rooted in this club. And you have to want something to last. That’s exactly why I’m staying here."

Kimmich also shared his thoughts on the club’s official website, adding:

"At FC Bayern, I have the best environment to achieve my sporting goals. That is what my decision was based on.

"For me, at this moment, there is no better combination of team-mates, coaching staff, and club environment to achieve maximum success. I feel at home here, and I am not finished yet."
