Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk has issued a strong warning to his team-mates ahead of their crucial Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, insisting that "there’s no time for errors." As Liverpool seek to carry their impressive league phase form into the knockout rounds, they face a formidable PSG side that remains unbeaten in Ligue 1 and sits comfortably at the top with a 13-point lead.

The Reds must prepare for a team brimming with confidence. Luis Enrique’s squad arrives in exceptional form, boasting ten consecutive wins and an unbeaten run spanning 22 matches across all competitions. Looking ahead to the encounter, Van Dijk said:

"I expect it to be a very good game over there against a very strong side, a team in form. They played very well in their last Champions League match against Brest, so we know it will be a tough challenge.

"But these are the kind of games you want to play in, and I’m really looking forward to it. Once you reach the knockout stages, there is no room for mistakes, no time for poor performances.

"There are two legs to get through, but our aim is to perform well in both matches and prove that we deserve to progress. However, you have to earn it—you must fight for it and give everything in your power to win. That’s exactly what we plan to do.

"We’re fully aware of how difficult the match in Paris will be, and then, of course, the return leg at Anfield. But these are the nights where you want to showcase your ability to the world."

Van Dijk also came to the defence of his team-mate Darwin Núñez, who has faced criticism over his work rate from coach Arne Slot.

"I think that’s the absolute minimum expected of us from day one, but that should be the standard for anyone playing for Liverpool," Van Dijk remarked. "Ultimately, it’s down to him, and it remains his responsibility, but I believe he responded well with his effort and intensity.

"That level of commitment should always be there, and he knows that. He just needs to keep going. Everyone in this squad has a crucial role to play—we’re all in this together, and he is a key part of our team as well.

"When he comes on, he needs to make a positive impact. Against Newcastle, he and the other substitutes made a real difference. That’s exactly what we need, so we have to keep that momentum going."
