Norwegian-born singer Emmy has been chosen to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with her song Laika Party. The selection was made through Eurosong 2025, Ireland’s national competition, which took place on 7th February during a special edition of The Late Late Show on RTÉ One.
Emmy Wins Eurosong 2025 to Represent Ireland at Eurovision
Emmy, whose full name is Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen, co-wrote the song alongside Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Henrik Østlund, Larissa Tormey, and Truls Marius Aarra. She won the competition with a total of 34 points, securing the top score from both the national jury and public vote.
The competition featured six finalists, with results determined by a combination of votes from a national jury, an international jury, and a televote. Samantha Mumba finished in second place with My Way, earning 26 points, while Bobbi Arlo placed third with Powerplay, scoring 20 points. The remaining competitors included Reylta with Fire and Niyl with Growth, who each earned 18 points, while Adgy finished in sixth place with Run into the Night, securing 10 points.
Ireland, which holds the record for the most Eurovision victories with seven wins, has faced challenges in recent years but experienced a resurgence in 2024, when Bambie Thug placed sixth with Doomsday Blue. Emmy will now aim to build on that success as she prepares to compete in the Second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 15th May 2025, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland.
