President Lourenço had earlier on Wednesday called for the withdrawal of Rwandan forces from the DRC.
Rwanda and Angola Agree to Collaborate on Solution to DRC Crisis

Amid growing tensions in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Angolan President João Lourenço have committed to collaborating to seek a lasting resolution to the ongoing crisis in the region.
This development follows a phone call between the two leaders on Thursday evening.
President Lourenço, who is the African Union (AU) mediator between the DRC and Rwanda, had previously called for the withdrawal of Rwandan forces from the DRC in a statement on Wednesday.
In a social media post, President Kagame underscored the importance of finding a "long-term and sustainable solution" to the crisis.
“Earlier today, I had a productive conversation with President João Lourenço... and discussed the need for a long-term and sustainable solution to the ongoing situation in the DRC. We also reaffirmed our commitment to working with others on the continent to find a solution while deepening our strong bilateral partnership moving forward,” Kagame stated.
Rwanda has faced accusations of supporting the M23 rebel group, though it has strongly denied these claims.
The recent intensification of conflict, which saw the M23 seize the strategic city of Goma, has significantly aggravated the humanitarian crisis in the region.
President Lourenço, in his statement on Wednesday, expressed grave concern over the unfolding situation in eastern DRC, particularly the M23’s capture of Goma.
He described this action as a serious breach of the Luanda Peace Process, an agreement between the DRC and Rwanda that was reached earlier this year.
The ongoing conflict has tragically resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians and displaced thousands. Additionally, the United Nations reported that 17 UN peacekeepers, including 13 from South Africa and three from Malawi, have lost their lives in the violence.
