A stabbing incident in the southern German city of Aschaffenburg resulted in the deaths of two people on Wednesday, according to local police. The victims include a 41-year-old man and a two-year-old boy. Additionally, two other individuals sustained serious injuries.

Authorities have detained a 28-year-old suspect from Afghanistan in connection with the attack. Another individual, who witnessed the incident, is being held for questioning, though they are not considered a suspect.

This attack comes as Germany remains on heightened security alert following a car-ramming incident at a Christmas market in Magdeburg last month, which resulted in six deaths and injuries to nearly 300 people.
