Noel Fielding has reportedly confirmed his return for the upcoming series of The Great British Bake Off, dispelling recent rumours about his health.
Noel Fielding Confirms Return to The Great British Bake Off Amid Health Speculation
Last week, production on the second season of his Apple TV+ comedy, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, was halted after Fielding left midway through filming. The series, a fictional retelling of the 18th-century highwayman’s adventures, starred Fielding alongside Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) and David Threlfall (Shameless). Season two was set to feature Jason Isaacs and comedian Dawn French as co-stars.
Fielding’s agent, representing PBJ Management, issued a statement to Deadline, explaining:
“One of the main cast members who has not been well is not recovered enough to complete the filming.”
The agent described the situation as “hugely disappointing” for the production. Sources cited by Deadline suggested that the cast member in question was Fielding.
Concerns Over Bake Off Role
This development sparked concerns that Fielding might not return to co-host the next series of The Great British Bake Off, which is set to begin production in the coming weeks, with filming scheduled for April.
However, according to The Metro, a representative for Fielding confirmed he will be returning to co-host the Channel 4 baking competition. NME has reached out to his spokesperson for further clarification.
Career Highlights
Noel Fielding first gained fame with the surreal comedy series The Mighty Boosh, which aired from 2004 to 2007. He joined The Great British Bake Off as a presenter in 2017 and has been a team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks since its revival in 2021. Fielding has also lent his voice to films such as The Lego Movie 2 and Netflix’s Disenchantment.
