UEFA has appointed an ethics and disciplinary inspector to examine Premier League referee David Coote following the emergence of a video purportedly showing him inhaling a white substance during Euro 2024.

This follows a statement from Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the body responsible for English referees, indicating that it is taking new allegations concerning Coote "very seriously."

"We are aware of the allegations and are treating them with utmost seriousness. David Coote remains suspended pending a comprehensive investigation," stated a spokesperson for PGMOL.

"The welfare of David remains a primary concern, and we are fully committed to providing him with the necessary ongoing support during this period. We are unable to provide further comment at this time."
