Actor Salman Khan has received another death threat, allegedly by a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Indian media reported. Shah Rukh Khan also received a threat earlier this week.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan received a death threat on Thursday, according to authorities. The caller was unidentified, but police in Mumbai, the western Indian city where the actor resides, reported that the threat was allegedly from a criminal gang led by Lawrence Bishnoi.

The caller demanded a ransom of 50 million Indian rupees (approximately €550,000 or $592,600) from the 58-year-old actor. Additionally, the caller threatened a lyricist who had written a song that mentions both Salman Khan and Bishnoi. Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the threat is underway.

Just days earlier, on Tuesday, another threat was issued against the actor. Police detained a suspect, identified as Bhikha Ram, a daily wage laborer from Rajasthan. According to the police, Ram was watching a regional news channel when he allegedly called the Mumbai Police control room and issued the death threat against Salman Khan. Police told the PTI news agency that Ram claims to be a fan of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, and they are conducting further inquiries into the incident.

Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster in India, has been in prison since 2015. Despite his incarceration, investigators believe he continues to lead a gang involved in extortion, drug and arms smuggling, and murder, with a significant presence across India. In 2018, Bishnoi threatened Salman Khan over allegations that the actor had hunted two blackbuck antelopes, a species considered sacred to the Bishnoi community, to which Lawrence Bishnoi belongs.

Bishnoi is suspected to be the mastermind behind the recent murder of Mumbai politician Baba Siddique, who was reportedly close to Salman Khan. He is also believed to have been involved in the 2022 murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Another high-profile Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan, also received a threat on Tuesday. The caller demanded a ransom of 5 million Indian rupees, threatening to kill Shah Rukh if the payment was not made. The caller, who identified himself as "Hindustani" or "Indian," did not have Shah Rukh Khan's direct contact number and instead called the Bandra police station,
