West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus has received an additional two-match suspension after accepting a charge of violent conduct, stemming from his red card against Tottenham last month.

This extended ban, which brings his total suspension to five matches, means Kudus will not play again until West Ham’s fixture against Leicester City on 3rd December.

In addition, Kudus has been fined £60,000 following an incident in the 82nd minute of the 19th October match, where he kicked Spurs centre-back Mickey Van de Ven and subsequently pushed him in the face, igniting a confrontation. West Ham have also been fined £30,000 for the conduct of their players during this altercation. The initial red card, issued after a VAR review, resulted in an automatic three-game suspension.

Kudus’s dismissal came after he struck out at Van de Ven, with an FA charge later addressing a separate incident in which he struck Pape Matar Sarr in the face.

In his submission to the independent panel reviewing his case, Kudus expressed “deep embarrassment” over his actions in the moments following the foul on Van de Ven. He admitted he had “lost his composure” and stated that his behaviour was uncharacteristic.

"He acknowledged that he could not recall the events clearly but, upon viewing the footage, felt that Van de Ven had exaggerated the contact, which he described as minimal," the case's written report details.

Kudus also cited the challenging mental preparation for the match, noting that he had recently returned from international duty with Ghana, where he faced criticism on social media following Ghana’s setback in their Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.

While the FA initially recommended an additional three-game ban for the incident involving Sarr, this was reduced to two matches. Two of the three panel members agreed that Kudus’s admission of fault and his previously good disciplinary record warranted leniency.
