Quincy Jones, iconic music producer, dies at 91, celebrated for his work with legends like Michael Jackson and Ray Charles.

Legendary US music producer Quincy Jones passed away on Sunday night at the age of 91, as announced by his publicist.

"Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing," the family stated in a heartfelt announcement. "While this is an immense loss for our family, we choose to celebrate the remarkable life he lived and acknowledge that there will never be another like him."

Born in 1933 in Chicago, Jones began his career by creating his own music and providing accompaniment for renowned artists such as Billie Holiday. He later led his own band, during which he formed a close friendship and collaborative relationship with Ray Charles.

Throughout his illustrious career, Jones emerged as one of the first Black executives to succeed in the entertainment industry, compiling an extensive music catalog that includes Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" album, as well as contributions from jazz legends like Duke Ellington, and popular vocalists such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

In addition to his work as a producer, Jones' own music has been frequently sampled by prominent rappers, including Tupac Shakur and Kanye West. He also composed scores for film and television, with notable works including "The Color Purple" and the classic sitcom "Sanford and Son."
