Jeremy Clarkson has disclosed that he is now facing a new setback after revealing his "deteriorating" health condition, which necessitated heart surgery.

The 64-year-old presenter of Clarkson's Farm explained that while swimming in the Indian Ocean during a holiday, he began to experience difficulties with stairs. Upon returning home, he suffered a "sudden deterioration" and decided to consult a doctor. He was subsequently taken by ambulance to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where medical staff ruled out a heart attack following an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and X-rays.

He was then moved to an operating theatre, where further examinations revealed that he was "days away" from becoming very ill. Within two hours, doctors fitted a stent, a device designed to prevent future heart attacks by improving blood flow to the heart.

After sharing details of his medical ordeal, the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? expressed further distress on Instagram, announcing that one of his dogs is currently "under the knife" after developing pyometra—a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus that causes it to fill with bacteria and pus.

Accompanying a photo of his dog, Jeremy wrote: "The poor thing is under the knife as we speak. She has pyometra. What a terrible week." Many fans expressed their concern, sending the presenter their best wishes. One wrote: "I'm really sorry; I hope she recovers." Another added: "I hope next week goes well for you, Jeremy; I feel your pain." A further comment read: "I work in a veterinary surgery, and be assured she will be receiving the best care. Fingers crossed she will be home soon and appreciate you all even more. Hope everything goes well, and keep us posted."

Another supporter commented: "Aw, it's always a massive worry, but hopefully, the surgery is successful and she will make a swift recovery; they bounce back much quicker than humans." A well-wisher remarked: "Oh, bless her; my dog had this last year... she was nearly nine and recovered well. Wishing a speedy recovery."

In his Sunday Times column, Jeremy elaborated on his health issues, stating: "It seems that of the arteries supplying my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked, and the second of three was heading that way." Discussing the procedure to have the stent fitted, Jeremy noted: "It wasn't especially painful. Just odd," adding that he has since thought: "Crikey, that was close." He also attempted to inject some humour into the situation, admitting to "wondering what water tastes like and if it's possible to make celery interesting" following his health scare. He had previously given up smoking after contracting pneumonia while on holiday in Spain.
