Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma had the pleasure of meeting legendary Spanish goalkeeper and FIFA World Cup winner Iker Casillas at the NBA Abu Dhabi Game on Friday.

Rohit, who recently led India to a clean sweep against neighbours Bangladesh on home soil, attended the NBA Abu Dhabi Games featuring the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets, accompanied by his wife, Ritika Sajdeh.

Under Rohit's captaincy, India ended a prolonged ICC title drought by triumphing at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, held in the USA and the West Indies. Although he has called time on his international T20 career, Rohit continues to represent the national side in other formats of the game.

With his aggressive playing style and elegant batting technique, Rohit boasts a substantial fanbase that transcends national borders.

Iker Casillas captained the illustrious Spanish football team to the pinnacle of world football in 2010, helping La Roja secure their first FIFA World Cup title. He was also the goalkeeper for the Spanish national team that won the UEFA Euro in 2008 and retained the title in 2012.

The 43-year-old enjoyed a glittering club career with Real Madrid, winning multiple titles, including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the Supercopa de España, and the Copa del Rey, along with the Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Casillas spent the majority of his career at the Madrid giants before moving to Porto for the final chapter of his illustrious career.

The Abu Dhabi Games are part of an international NBA showcase, complementing the NBA Mexico City Game 2024, NBA Canada Series, and NBA Paris Games 2025 as the league aims to expand its reach beyond its traditional fanbase in the United States.
